Common side effects that people experience from a radiofrequency microneedling treatment include mild pain and temporary redness during and after the procedure. Marks from the needle pricks may also be present on the skin after treatment, which can last several days.  

There is a risk the treatment will cause pigmentation changes to the skin, especially in patients with darker skin types. People with darker skin can be successfully treated with radiofrequency microneedling, although practitioners might employ extra measures to prevent post-treatment pigmentation such as recommending a specific skincare routine before and after or they might lower treatment settings. 

There is also a chance of burns, infection, scarring and prolonged swelling following treatment.
